PROMOTING TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERUVIAN CACAO

Thanks to the efforts promoted by APPCACAO, the process of convening and allocating resources from the National Agrarian Innovation Program (PNIA) has been successfully completed to achieve the participation of 23 Appcacao member producers, belonging to 10 Amazon cooperatives, Piura, San Martín, Ayacucho, Cusco and Junín, which are ready to start the technical and commercial exchange to Paris and Switzerland, to be held during the month of October and November.

Representatives of the most important cocoa cooperatives in the country such as CEPROAA, ALTO URUBAMBA, PANGOA, NORANDINO, ACOPAGRO, ASPROC – NBT, ORO VERDE, CENTRAL CACAO AROMA DE TOCACHE, APROCAM and EL QUINACHO, obtained the financing of the National Agricultural Innovation Program PNIA , to visit the Chocolate Salon in Paris, and have the opportunity to establish commercial ties with potential buyers and learn about market trends in this fair that has been held for more than 20 years and includes about 220 participating exhibitors, confectioners, confectioners and chocolate masters from all over the world (France, Belgium, Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Portugal, etc.), representing a great opportunity for the exchange and technical and commercial articulation of organizations.

The exchange will also include an opportunity to make contact with those in charge of the “Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa” Program, private research companies (SOFIES); potential clients (Max Felchlin, Chocolats Halba, Barry Callebaut; Pronatec) and research centers such as the FiBL Institute specializing in organic and biodynamic agriculture; among others all located in Switzerland.

This inter-institutional coordination effort has had the financial support of the PNIA, the Secompetitive Program of Swiss Cooperation and the resources of the participating organizations. It will be very useful to address future issues and strategies around crucial issues for the production and marketing of our cocoa, such as European regulations for cadmium, sanitary requirements, certifications, blockchain, digitization, bean to bar, biodynamic production, agroforestry, among other topics of interest that will be very useful to enhance our supply of cocoa of origin, and stand out as a country, of organic and sustainable production.
