Oro Verde is a cooperative that focuses on its members, founded on December 7, 1999 by 56 coffee producers settled in the province of Lamas, in the San Martín Region. Since then it has worked hard to achieve economic, social and environmental growth. It works under both fair trade and organic philosophies, for the European Union (EU), United States (NOP/USDA), Canada (COR), Biossuise, and Small Producers’ Symbol (SPP).
Oro Verde has united two Andean and Amazon cultures and 70% of its members come from the Chanca Lamista ethnic group; 30% are migrants. This union gives Oro Verde a rich cultural diversity and traditions in the cultivation of coffee and cacao.
Since 2010, Oro Verde has led a socio-environmental project focused on reducing its carbon footprint (Free CO2). This project has been called Safe Retirement, with 4 models of reforestation: Boundaries, Agroforestry, Mascizo and Silvopastoral.
